Not a high flying bird like Leo manages to photo with such grace but a bumbling Pheasant who visits the back door every day.
I now have 14 of them at the kitchen door (13 females / 1 male) and they stay there the entire DAY demanding to be fed. Not good, not good at all, It's becoming more of a pheasant FARM type thing with me spending a small fortune feeding these quite silly birds.
2 of them have sussed the small bird feeder tray and they bumble their way up onto it and demolish the contents in minutes! The male has found his way onto the nut dispenser and won't stop until he's eaten the lot.
I've encouraged a couple of them (it's always a laugh to have a silly pheasant as a garden pet) but there are now 14 of them totally taking the piss!
All my own doing, I know, but what's the best way to "gradually" wean them off their daily "Feed"?
My mate reckons the best way is to club one of them over the head with a block of wood (Kill it) in front of the other pheasants and that will do the trick but I couldn't do that to a defenceless bird..... not my MO.
Any thoughts guys?

I really like Pheasants nice shot btw, we had one once a few months ago but I never seen it since . We have a fox and Hedgehogs (now hibernating in the nesting boxes I put under the hedge) We sometimes see Pheasants whilst out on our early morning weekend walks This one was strutting his stuff trying to impress the females _DSC6109_openWith by leon kirkbride, on Flickr _DSC6125_openWith by leon kirkbride, on Flickr

A fox, dog or cat would probably do the trick, Mike.
Birds can be very persistant in their behaviour when they have been fed somewhere for sometime.
You could inject the peanuts with pesticide. But that is not you thing either.

You could inject the peanuts with pesticide. That's the type of thing Hitler would do..... I couldn't possibly poison my garden Pheasants, no way! I've moved them further down the garden, away from the feeding station, so they are quite happy and stay well clear of the small birds...... I throw some "pidgeon mix" onto a slab three times a day and they are quite happy with that (the little bastards SHOULD be happy / Pidgeon mix is £3 a kilo!!)..... they are costing me about a tenner a week (£10 GBP) and that is just crazy. You're probably right Nando..... I should grow a Hitler Moustache and give it large with: "Her little bird shpielen I vant to feed you mein leibken" Lace their Pidgeon mix with anthrax and maybe shoot them in the back? The Pheasant (You feeden me with ze seeden and you shooten me in ze backkerspchincter?) To be continued

Anthrax? That’s not so smart with you in the same garden. Those sheep of the neighbour are not save either.
Remember not to eat those birds when they drop dead.

OK..... maybe not Anthrax, that was a bad choice (for ALL parties) howzabout some valium laced peanuts? Get them nice and relaxed, capture them in a net and transport them to another village?

Isn’t there a nice island nearby for that matter. These pheasants can’t fly very well.
