His partner contacted AIDS circa 1991 and died 1993, so George lived at least 23 years after that, no doubt a lot of that time with AIDS himself.

Not my cup of musical tea but 53 is never a good way to go. What is heart failure in bed? Was he sleeping or was he awake with someone in bed with him? I know that these "gay" people take a thing called "poppers" when they're doing what they do and it can cause heart failure if taken to excess: www.talktofrank.com/drug/poppersI really don't want to know the exact details but an otherwise "fit and healthy" 53 year old doesn't have heart failure in his sleep. I was actually a bit pissed off today...... Radio 2 were giving this guy a big send off "he was a super star in the 80's" type thing and not a mention of Rick Parfitt who had more talent and class in his index finger fingernail than George Michael had in his entire body! I never speak ill of the dead but, come on people, George Michael a "super star"?? He may have been a star act in the gent's toilet cubicles but far from a star when it came to music.

I thought the BBC coverage disproportionate to a high degree. George Michael was a good pop singer and song writer; not to my taste at all and I respect his skills. However, for the BBC to completely re-write their Boxing Day shedule was way too ambitious. During that morning show there was obviously a 'second thought' and a few Quo numbers were slotted in. At the last minute I reckon. The reverence on display for Michael would have been consistent with the death of a minor Royal would it not ? But that George Michael? In our house he's always been known as that George 'f***ing' Michaels (always said with an 's', on purpose, out of disrespect). Don't hate his music, but he was just a pop star.

I think most people miss the extent of what he represented to certain people, what he symbolized. If you had that double album I mentioned and you looked at the photos, it would be apparent.

Yes, George Michael represented a lot to many people. He was an important artist, no doubt. Good song writer, good singer. But sometimes, no matter how good someone is, they just don't push your own buttons. Think I've raised this before. There are always those artists, undeniably good, top rank, A1, whatever you wish to call them. But somehow they don't speak to you personally. In my case, Michaeal was one of those. As is Elvis, Paul Simon, Paul Weller and Bruce Springsteen, Roy Orbison. All geat artsists, undeniably. But they just don't do it for me.

George Michael didn't appeal to me either, but the photo collection in that double CD is so impressive in a certain way, that it may astonish you.
