Just a quick note to thank garyh for a smooth transaction re the headphone amp for which I'm the new owner. It made its audition last night and happy to report I'm very pleased with the initial result. Had to wait a couple of days for a suitable connector, my system is based around a Naim Unitilite which has a pre-amp out but requires a 4 pin din plug going to RCA's which are not an off the shelf item. First impressions are it has a fuller presentation than the Naim which is dynamic but also a bit dry and lean. Current fave headphones out of my collection Senn HD598's. Im mulling over a possible upgrade to HD700's, is my current set up and new amp good enough to hear a difference, still pondering aboput that one.

Forgot to mention, listened to an hour or so of Radio Paradise and an old Dylan album Planet Waves.

Glad you like the JLH amp..... IIRC I fitted an audio GD "Moon" discrete opamp into it, you may want to try the metal can Burr Brown OPA627BM (metal can) in the amp. They are expensive (about £40 each / you need two) and need to be fitted onto single to dual browndog converters. The good news is, I have a pair on a Bdog converter and they are yours for free. They were part of the kit but I decided to fit the Audio GD Moon discrete opamp instead so, as far as I am concerned, you can have the OPA627BM / Browndog on me. They are easy to fit into the socket (DIP8) and require no tweaking.... they are ready to roll :-) PM me your details and I'll send them over to you Trev. Best regards, Mike.

I've been out of the country and also away from home with work for a couple of weeks so the amp hasnt had that much use. To complete the package so to speak I took the plunge on some Senn HD700's. With the cost of the amp and phones this is a very large investment for me. Its probably the last major outlay I'll make on phones and it's taken a long time to make my mind up. Last night was the first time I'd played a CD. Ryan Adams is someone I've followed from his Whiskeytown days, a few years ago he released Ashes & Fire. I love this album, produced by Glyn Johns and mastered by Bob Ludwig the quality of the production is superb. For me, it sounded fantastic. Mike, the amp builder, kindly sent the Burr Brown OP amps @ Im told it will even sound better. Hard to believe from what I experienced yesterday. Regards Trevor
