Whoah! Where did you lot spring up from? So good to hear from you all again and glad to learn that all of you are keeping fine. A few of you seem to have lost the headphone bug and a few of you still seem to have it, whatever the case please don't be strangers.... you can talk about anything here, even Sole

Hi Y'all... I ain't tinkering like I have in the past. Just playing golf and watching Netflix, collecting meteorites and ancient coins, playing with my grandyoungins. You know, just being retired... A new planted aquarium and cruise tickets from Hawaii to Alaska in the spring. No time for solder.
I'm a little worried about clearing the cobwebs off of my work bench...

With reference to the post that says the place has lost its "sole". I'd just like to say: At the last count the sole was spotted heading down south to Dover Chris I take "on board" what James said and will cast out a hook to try and get some sole back into the plaice again Cod that was bad, Eely bad. We're stuck between a Rock and a hard plaice, no doubt about it, but I'm sure we can stop talking at cross porpoises and come together to turbot charge the plaice again. I'll get my hat

Seriously guys, this thread is only two pages long but it has brought back a lot of good memories.... it's so good to hear from you all again, each and every one of you. Just looking at some of the names who logged on last night brings a tear to my eye (I only have one eye before Dale corrects my grammar) and I remember every last one of you.... some from the Head-Fi days even...... Joelongwood "the keeper of the cans", Peranders, mrarroyo, bmxargh, Lini, Videoguy (AKA Sewerguy).... even JUDE at one point last night. In a 24 hour period 12 staff logged in, 64 members logged in and there were 1,110 guest who didn't log in..... that's 1,186 people! That's almost an audio army, and most definitely the beginning of one, so this place has definitely got some fight left in it! I ask all of you to do a little bit to make this place great once again..... it can be as little as discuss the weather, it doesn't matter, it doesn't have to be audio related.... just say something. As you all know, this place "Rock Grotto" has always been about free speech without profit / sponsors.... there is no agenda...... you are free to speak. Miguel........ roll out the boobs! ATB Mike.

I'm also still alive - not kicking that much anymore, though... *sigh* Mike: Just in case you wouldn't know, rule #1 for talking to oneself: Don't do so publicly. Miguel: Nice to see you've kept your lovely avatar. Greetings from Munich! Manfred / lini How are you manfred? Hope you are Grinning and not groaning sir I've managed (I hope) to get the depression under control with UV rays..... the once weekly exposure to the light seems to help me ward off the darkness...... Mike.

YO ... I Havent been on here either for a couple of years maybe longer. I now live on the isle of Wight, so my system is now designed around headphones with a top notch amp from John Wood and Audeze LCD 3.I live in a small house and have to consider neighbours to some degree. Sold a lot of other equipment off to change to this, it beats any speaker system I have ever had and is my main source od listening now. When I get chance I will put pics up.

Hi! I haven't been on here for years, but it's nice to see some old names. I currently don't own any Musical Fidelity amps, having sold my kW550, DM25 transport and DAC to fund the purchase of a Devialet 200. A couple of years later I bought a Slave to make a 400, and just recently the whole lot went back to France to have them upgraded to 440 Pro status. After selling my X-Cans V2 and power supply, I bought a Graham Slee Solo Ultra Linear. I recently sold the Slee and after auditioning half a dozen amps bought a Rupert Neve RNHP headphone amp, which is by far the best I've heard. Current cans are: Denon AH-D 5000, Sennheiser Precision 580s and HD 800, with Cardas cables.
Best wishes to everybody out there!

Hello Mike,
I´ve never posted very much but I would to say you I am very grateful because I am still using my MF 10v3 as my reference headphones amplifier after your mods and advices which I found by chance googling just when I was determined to sell it.
Best regards
Maxi

I'm still around.
I haven't been dabbling much with audio much lately, I still blow the cobwebs out of the speakers now and again, but haven't picked up a soldering iron for a while.

I'm around! Haven't done any soldering in a time but realising I've now got a hp 'collection' (Audeze LCD2.2, HD600, AKG K550 Mk2, Ultrasone HFI-15G); still going through modded X-Can V3 and it would take a big jump up to improve; buying Cds each week and going to Boris (from Japan) next month at Electric Ballroom, Camden www.youtube.com/watch?v=keWY_mCeqR8

Hi Friedrich, The majority of those who left blame me for everything.... apparantly it was all my fault.... I was to blame for them leaving etc. etc. Apparantly, every argument that ever took place here was my fault, every dog that went missing was my fault..... you get the general idea The truth of the matter is a different thing but I don't want to waste time explaining things and am happy to take all the blame for the demise of this forum...... it was me "all by myself" who managed to destroy it, all those who got what they needed from the place and jumped ship had nothing to do with it, it was all my fault It will all be the same in a thousand years Friedrich, there will always be a scapegoat for others inability to address their own problems / further their own goals..... I am happy to take it on the chin and accept ALL blame.

Long time no see man, glad all is well with you sir! Seems to be pretty much the same story, a loss of interest in something that was once a passion...... DIY has definitely taken a dive. We are almost force fed cheap Chinese electronics these days and the passion to "improve" on home grown products has become a thing of the past, it's quite sad but indicative of the age we are living in. Vinyl anybody? Not many........... Mobile phone as part of your "home" system? Pretty much everybody. I was in the bike shop today and, for some strange reason, the conversation went from "stretched bike chains" to the lyrics of a Carpenter's song........ I stood my ground and said it was "Billy Gumbo" and was told that I was wrong, there was no such lyric in the song "Jambalaya"..... I did a youtube in the shop and they were all like "f**k me, you're right"........ "it is Billy Gumbo"!!!! Mike (another Mike) said "by the way, that phone sounds great"........ eh? it sounds like SHIT!!!!! that's the 4th time I have been told that my phone sounds great so there's a pattern here...... 2 pence a pop phone speakers do not sound great / they will never sound great....... they will only ever sound absolute shite at the very best!! Anyhoo........ they were all congratulating me on my "Billy Gumbo" knowledge and admitting defeat...... I was like "I know my music, even stuff from the Carpenters, I'm not often wrong" etc. WELL......... It just goes to show...... I got home double checked to find the exact words are: "Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and fillet gumbo" OMG! That's almost as embarrassing as finding out (about 10 years ago) that the Kinks were singing "Cherry Cola" and NOT "Terry Cola" (Lola) as I had believed for many years You can imagine my embarrassment...... "Who's Terry Cola?" What do you mean? "The geezer the Kinks are singing about" No no...... it's Cherry Cola, not Terry Cola. Anyhoo....... off to Google a Fillet Gumbo (whatever a fillet of Gumbo is)....... weird, I still think it's Billy Gumbo.... what do you think?

Pretty much spot on Leo The thing is, I can take it (all day long) and, as sure as day is night, the givers will end up receiving the same.... what goes around comes around. I feel sorry for the poor sods who can't take it, the likes of Rolf Harris / Tony Blackburn etc. It must be really taxing for those guys
