Love one of the comments regarding Keith Moon making Jim Morrison looking tame. "He overdosed on anti abuse medication for Christ sakes" Keith moon died because he was taking Heminevrin (clomethiazole) a very nasty drug that was used when withdrawing from alcohol. The next generation of drugs was actually CALLED "antabuse" (disulfiram) and even more dangerous! Back then (and even today) some believe that antabuse is a good way to get an alcoholic to abstain from drinking..... it's basically a drug you take and if you drink any alcohol it makes you feel extremely ill.... pretty much like a rat being trained not to eat the piece of chocolate that electrocutes him every time he takes a mouthful. It is still legal and shouldn't be, it causes many deaths: www.barefootsworld.net/aa-antabuse.htmlTerrifying drugs and not drugs they should prescribe to people who are genetically predisposed to alcoholism because it's a sure fire recipe for disaster. A tapering dosage of Chlordiazepoxide (Librium) is the safest way (and the smoothest) along with injections of pabrinex (Vitamin B) fired into your arse cheeks. Once the alcoholic has been off the booze for three months or so then (Campral) Acamprosate MAY help to re-bridge the serotonin gap but at the end of the day, if you are an alcoholic, you know that it's an illness and the sooner the medical profession realise it as such the better. The standard NHS procedure for detoxing an alcoholic is 300mG of Chlordiazepoxide / a five day tapering dose which makes you feel comfortably numb. As soon as the Chlordiazepoxide leaves your system you're pretty much on your own and will 9 times out of ten hit the bottle to self medicate ONCE AGAIN. As I say, the sooner they (whoever THEY are) realise that alcoholism is an illness and NOT an addiction / fad the closer we will get to understanding what causes the illness. Mike.

Does anyone think an alcoholic ENJOYS being a slave to the booze?
It's f**kin' hard work and takes over your life..... it also costs a lot of money and destroys you health / motivation / get up and go / big time.

I found a beer I really love - Henry Weinhard. When I couldn't find it, I drank Sam Adams light, which is similar. But both of those "light" beers fattened me up too much, and I only drank 2 per day, 12 oz each. And gave it up. But I have to say, when it comes to the expense and other downsides, the whole point is, you drink a few and don't give a s**t. So there you are...

If you live in the Liverpool area they will block you, they have an ongoing law suit with Jimmy Tarbuck, they reckon the gap between his teeth is an open invatation for teenagers in Liverpool to abuse Milk shake. I'll get my coat......
