It's been absolutely dire up here in the far North of Scotland (Thurso), almost a week now of constant rain / dark skies and yesterday's top temperature was a whopping 12C! Superb conditions for midges to thrive in, great weather to make the grass grow but bugger all else about it can be considered good. The central heating was on in the middle of July which is just ridiculous..... it would be interesting to hear how your summer 2016 is going!

Here in the U.S. Southeast, hot and humid. We had the hottest June ever, and from what I hear, same worldwide. This month looks the same. I read many years ago that the Earth's last rainforests would be gone by 2030.

Forecast high temp today in Denver, CO is 98*F or 36.6667*C (according to a temp calculator)with sunny skies obscured only by smoke from a wildfire in the mountains northwest of Denver. Temps somewhere in the middle between North Scotland or Sweden and Denver would be a happy medium! Nighttime temps are very reasonable at 55-60F so it's all good. On a different note, my stereo temps are going to drop significantly tomorrow. Trading in my now 20 year old Counterpoint SA-5000 pre and much younger Bryston 4BSST2 amp for an Electrocompaniet ECI 6DS integrated. Was able to audition the ECI 6DS in house for a week and after re-inserting the old gear back into the system it was clear (ha) that it was time for a change. It will be the first time in over 30 years tubes haven't had a place in my stereo but it was an easy decision. Rock Grotto, the tubes purchased from you were among the very best I experienced in those 30 years of tube bliss and thank you for that. Steve

Summer has finally hit in full force here in the ex-swamplands of SE Missouri, (google Little River Drainage District), mid 90's (don't know what that is for you metric guys,) with heat indices in the triple digits. Yes, the mosquito is our state bird. The son is home from college for the summer; aerospace engineering major, and both the wife and I have a break from our college classes; trying to finish our bachelors 25 years later. It's been a summer to catch up on some fishing and a few audio projects. Things have been quiet on the headphone side of things, not so much on the DIY end of things. These turned out way better than expected. FaitalPro prosound woofer/Linaeum ribbon form an old pair of radioshack speakers, minidsp as crossover/dsp. The biggest surprise of all was in using a Sure amp board, (tk2050) and SMPS. I know what some think of 'digital,' but to my ears it sounds pretty darn good, especially considering how little $ was invested. This is one of the few systems where I can listen for hours, or until I fall asleep, whichever comes first. Here's the FaitalPro/Linaeum build thread w/measurements, techtalk.parts-express.com/forum/tech-talk-forum/68538-design-using-the-linaeum-ribbon If you have any questions feel free to ask away. Haven't finished these yet. Plans are similar; minidsp crossover/dsp and another, possibly better quality, t-amp.

In the middle of Switzerland it's also summer now for half a week already (so I've been told). Just came back from a tour through South Korea, China, Singapore and India and was hoping for some average European temperatures - but alas: it's almost as hot as in Mumbai, though luckily not as humid! On the musical front I've been traveling with Bose QC cans for the first time to make the long distance flights more bearable and was pleasantly surprised just how effective these things work. Amazing...

Western NY State - south shore of lake Ontario. It has been a hot and dry summer - officially a drought in some areas here. I do not mind....I love it.
On the audio front, I picked up two garage sale Carver M-500T amps. Physically in nice shape but in need of a refresh - electronically speaking. Doubt whether I'll have time to do it this summer, but soon...
Enjoy the music!

Very overcast up here, yet again, but no rain..... top temp. was 20C with a covering of cloud so if the sun HAD managed to break through it would have easily topped 26C. I'm not a Mackerel lover but enjoy the occasional bit of fishing...... apparently, the Mackerel are heading along our way at the moment and one guy caught over 100 in 30 minutes along in Wick (which is 34 miles away from me) so looks like they should be coming in hard here in the next couple of weeks. Perfect weather, very humid, calm sea, overcast. I'm looking out my bass wedges (and other tackle) so my mate and me plan to go fishing off the rocks in Scrabster with a view to catching a good few Mackerel (to use as bait) and then go out on a boat and use the Mackerel as bait for Cod and Haddock.
Some say that Mackerel is the best fish you can eat and the ONLY way to eat it is within minutes of catching it..... erm, I'm not a great one for smacking a fish over the head and then cooking it on a portable calor gas stove but, hey ho, whatever rocks your boat. I went out last year (on the boat), caught 15 Haddock and 2 Cod and a guy on the boat filleted them for me........ absolutely the best Haddock I have ever tasted..... fresh from the sea and filleted on the boat....... I drove home, battered a couple of Haddock fillets and fried them in the deep fryer....... absolutely sublime!!!
I was glue sizing a wall (in the house) today preparing it for papering and, shit, there must be more to life than arsing about in the house (with a view to making it more appealing to potential buyers) so what better than getting the old fishing rods out and culling a few fish?
I'm fine with the casting out and the "catch" but go totally "I can't kill it" when I land it...... every single fish I have ever caught has been murdered by someone else (I always claim I am new to fishing) and as long as they fillet it on the boat (I also claim to know nothing about cooking or filleting) I am quite happy to coat it in batter, fry it and eat it.
Tail on / Head on is not something I can eat, however fresh it is!
Mike.
