A 650 USD headphone will always sell for £650 GBP in the UK even though 650 USD equates to only £416 GBP. I suppose that they will seem special to some people but a tree is a tree, the fact it is a "Brooklyn tree" doesn't mean jack shit to me but may mean a lot to someone living in Brooklyn. Are these the 'phones you are referring to Dale? www.gradolabs.com/headphones/limited-editions/item/42-gh1

I want them, but A) can't afford them now, and B) $650 seems ridiculous. There are some better deals in Britain, but Grado isn't one of them. They stated on a SE Asian forum a year ago that they don't "pressure" any local Grado retailers to be reasonable in pricing. Quote approximate of course.

The SR60 itself is cheap enough, so it's your reputation on the line. Maybe use a fake name. Oh wait - you already did that - very smart. eBay is an amazing place though - all the world's pirates, thieves, money launderers, loan sharks, pornographers etc. live on eBay. A fine institution if there ever was one.

Time to head to "Nam" to realise my fortune

Another item of amazement. In my youth we were being sacrificed like chickens in Vietnam - I narrowly missed it myself having chosen to man the Czech border during the Soviet invasion of 1968 instead. So in 2002, 34 years later, I ended up in Irvine California working with several Vietnamese in the software shop. And they asked me to help restore a bunch of old photos of their parents taken in Vietnam during the war. They also enjoyed my story of having been arrested/detained at the Canadian border in 1976 with 3 Vietnamese in my VW Beetle, since none of them had immigration cards. Back then it all seemed so everyday, being in the war, mixing with immigrants etc. Nowdays our immigrants are guys with raggedy beards and women with scarves and other stuff all 'round their heads, carrying Uzi's under all that clothing I suppose. Benefits of being Amerikan I think - we never get out of the war.
Oh, and Monday this one I may be ordering a Grado GH1, supposedly made from a tree in Brooklyn NY. Most people have only seen a photo of a tree in Brooklyn, since they were replaced long ago by urban construction. So I don't *really* know it's from a Brooklyn tree, but it does come with a certificate.

Perhaps it's just the certificate that is made from the Brooklyn tree. Aha! You may be onto something there or maybe just the name of the lady that fits them together on the work bench? What's the actual premium involved for this flotsom from the East River

What's the actual premium involved for this flotsom from the East River $650 USD - probably $300 of it 'real' if equivalent to the SR325e, and an add'l $350 for the thrill. It makes sense in a way - a botique operation in ye olde blacksmith shoppe.
