Mike,
I prefer the Sennheiser HD650 with the Doudou rather than my AKG K501's. I appreciate these are not the K701's though.
No buzzing through the headphones at all, inky black silences all the way to ten. Impressively widescreen soundstage or what?

Impressively widescreen soundstage or what? Well, I found it quite incredible in places with the HD-600 but I am easily amused.... I found it DEFINITELY cut through the veil and made the HD-600 a lot more revealing, I was hoping it wasn't simply a touch of brightness...... I don't think it was..... keep going with her for a while man, throw some of your unlistenables at her as well as some of your old favourites.... but, yes, certainly made the old HD-600 fizz, no doubt about it

Now i ponder what it would be like compared to my new "O1-DAC". Wonders the difference between the solo and Dac? hmmm.

Give me one more day, pleeeeeeeeeze. Oh let, let me, let me stay, scusi-a please-a let me stay Just one more, one more night Oh, could I stay, could I please stay I'll wash up the dishes Let me, let me, let me stay I'll make up the bed, yeah Please won't you let me stay I'll take out the garbage Please, please, one more night Yeh.... OK Take your time Nigel.... no hurry at all.... a"week" really isn't long enough to form a proper impression so let's extend it to 3 weeks per listener..... suit you better? I realise that work / family schedules don't always allow for unimpeded listening sessions - Take your time

Why don't you send your 01 Dac/Amp to Mike after you have put 200 hours of burn in. He could then compare them. You trying to kill me Miguel? There's a certain v8 as well as a truckload of other things on the go here at the moment

lol, yeah miguel, j/k. Its my only headphone amp, and its basically been used almost all of my waking hours. I can't remember the last time i listened to so much music, its mad. i'm so happy with it, i'm half thinking about getting another one, so i don't have to swap it from one side of the room to the other.
As i UK guy, i'd love to sample it after the rounds. Though by that time, i probably will have my own doudou, if all other cricital listeners have high equally high praises.
On another note. I now can relate the veil aspect of audio with this Amp (O1 DAC) i feel as if i am where its been recorded, rather than listening to a CD.

No, a week will do me fine Mike. I'm posting it on Saturday to leo. It's just that the amp is causing me some serious reassessment if you catch my drift. Bit like leaving a comfort zone & being exposed to the stark reality of the real world.

Jeesh ... if *you* are saying that Nigel - it suggests at least that this amp's presenattion is seriously different!

It is different to anything I've heard thus far sol. Funnily enough, I was thinking of your good self whilst listening to it last night. I managed to engage in some serious sol levels on the volume scale, believe it or not I managed a few seconds on full blast (do not try this at home kids). I admit it was a vinyl source though.

Viva La Difference is what they say isn't it sol? I must post some thoughts tonight but I'm glad I've taken a bit of time because my opinions have changed on a daily basis really (who are you calling fickle lol).

A good amp is always differenet from a bad amp ... but difference does not make an amp better - only ... errr .. ahem .. different!
Looking forward to reading your impressions, and what has shifted! We can all be guilty of jumping in feet first and procaliming something great .. only to find we've changed our opinion after things settle and the psychoacoustics are having less effect, and our true ears start to play a stronger role.

Nigel.... there's a part of me that hopes you'll say "this amp is shite"..... it'll take a load off me and I can rest easy and spend the rest of my time riding about on petrol driven lawnmowers.
There's also a part of me that hopes you enjoy the amp but that "part" is less than it once was.... it's not up to you or I to convince others, it's about convincing ourselves.... all I need to know from you is "could you happily live with the Doudou Singer?"..... if not, say so and say so in a down to earth way.
Mikester.

No , this amp is far from being shite. It pisses on the Solo big time.

It took me a few days but I got there in the end!
Totally different to anything I'd heard previous, this is how I imagined those expensive US muscle amps to sound but with more bass.
NB. I imagined more bass from the US amps.

At first though I thought it was as if someone had turned up the treble tone control. I don't know whether the amp got better over the few days it has been left switched on but it took me some time to get accustomed to the sound, the sound is completely without clutter & lacking the warmth I am used to. No smearing & the HD650 sound a lot different. If this is right, the stuff I've been used to is wrong kinda thing.

The Solo was a bargain at £250 & this for £200! You do the math.

Not a good idea to post "pished" Mike.

No, I've heard her. Let the other chaps have a listen now.
Put me down for one.
Pity it doesn't have two inputs like the Solo though, that's a great help.
BTW, obviously I don't think it pisses on the Solo big time really. It does make the Solo sound a bit small scale though. The Solo seems to sound coloured in comparison but wins on bass tunes.

Was thinking about the two inputs myself............wouldn't be a problem fitting two RCA sockets where the yellow plugs are and a switch in between them. Obviously it would mean reaching round the back to switch sources but handier than switching interconnects. The small wiring distance between rca's, switch and pcb shouldn't affect sound quality?
