Whatever it "was" one thing's for sure.... it's gone now. I can't remember what position I had the amp in the other day but with it sitting on top of the CDP it's inky black quiet with the Grados. I'll keep an eye on it or, in this instance, an "ear" on it and see how it pans out. It's also very good with the Grados and they sound as good as I have heard them through other amps.... it's no secret that I can't wait to get the grados off my head so I really am not going to worry if there's an occasional buzz with 32 ohm 'phones or not. Mr. Doudou has made it clear that this amp is specifically intended for use with headphones having an impedance above 100ohms so I see no reason to dwell on the 32 ohm thing apart from saying..... the Grados sound good powered by it. I plugged these old Pioneer SE-305 (1970's vintage) in just for a laugh.... I believe they are 8 ohm impedance..... blow me over with a feather matron!, not only does the Singer do a good job of driving them it makes them sound like half decent headphones too... I'm amazed that these things are still working after 30 years and even more amazed that they actually don't sound too bad! Right I'm off to plug the prescribed Sennheiser into this puppy and have a darned good old session with her...... back later

The effect of RF when the cover was off, is also a timely reminder that RF can also get in via interconnects that aren't properly shielded. The effect may not be quite so obvious, but it WILL degrade the ultimate sound quality.

Did you get charged import tax when you had yours delivered ? No. It is a commercial sample with no retail value etc. Every possibility import tax will be applied though that's not set in stone, I've had a lot more items slip through than items that have been taxed (actually, I think I've only paid import tax once) Let me talk to Wenhu about all this and I'll hopefully have the definitive answers this time tomorrow. I may even consider distributing this amp, I'll have more news tomorrow.

Ah okay then thanks. It's a shame tax could be so high, you could get customs duty, VAT, some tax depending on the item (i've seen as high as 43percent on camera lenses.) It totally ruins th ehwole idea of getting stuff cheep from abroad. You should ask to be a distributor and take %10 profit margin

Wow, i have never listened to classical music before because i simply do not like it. But simply looking at Play.com download section i stumbled across a 320kbps MP3classicalalbum, and i played it... and the voices from the concert hall were simply staggering. If i closed my eyes, it was breathtakeing. It was like i was there...i just had to download a few. THIS is what high quality headphones are about.. and all this amazeing sound is comeing through onboard sound, not even dedicated sound, AND MP3's... these were the songs: Sanctus - Karl Jenkins Save Me From Bloody Men - Karl Jenkins The Call To Prayers (Adhaan) - Karl Jenkins Agnus Dei - Karl Jenkins One word, amazed. I know that is totally irellevent in post. But i had to say it, i had to let it out of my system

2:38am in the morning and I just cannot drag myself away from this headphone amp / Sennheiser HD-600.... the Singer just rips through the Senn veil, I was never really aware of the veil until it was lifted if that makes any sense?
I don't quite know the why and the how but the HD-600 powered by the Singer are a totally different animal to what I'm used to... they positively "sparkle" and fizz with energy, I'm not suggesting the amp is bright it just seems to have injected some adrenalin into the HD-600 and it's now as if you're seeing through a clear window instead of one with a net curtain on it.
Everything is so beautifully balanced and nothing overwhelms or is recessed, from the bass right up to the highs things are in natural proportion and there is a true, palpable, sense of scale and space. You can follow every instrument with ease and let me tell those instruments "sound" like instruments and not candy coated in any way.... trumpets rasp, symbols crash, bass sounds like bass and not some processed parping sound.
It's revealing, very revealing, nothing is lost in the circuitry it's just so "open" like a breath of cool mountain air... maybe not an audio term but that's how I'd describe it, as if it has blown some cool mountain air into the Senns and cleared their lungs.... it has either lifted the veil or hasn't eaten some of the signal on its way through the circuitry... whatever it's doing it's making a damned good job of it! I nearly shit myself earlier listening to Mike Oldfield's songs of distant earth there's one track where a really deep bass note comes in, I honestly thought it was an earthquake occuring outside! This guy just smashes you in the face with dynamics! Make sure you're wearing rubber pants when you listen otherwise you may soil your listening chair ;D
Right I'm going to drag myself away from it and get off to bed... I wish some of you guys were close by so you could have a listen, it's always a good idea to have a few ears listening to an amp.... this "lifted veil" could just be brightness (I don't think it is though) or even the hour of the morning with a cleaner mains supply.... I'll have another good listen tomorrow and that'll be another good few hours burn in under her belt.

I almost fell off my chair I don't think Karl Jenkins would be your cup of tea Mike anyway but he's not that fella in the pic, well I don't think he is as I've never seen him. I like a wide range of music so not so for admitting I've heard of him

Man, them's some strong words. I'm not doubting your opinion of the Singer to the Solo, but man. I just recently got back from ahhhhhhh...........beng (?) with an old friend. He just bought a sweet gibson, a marshall solid state amp, and got a good deal on a gibson amp that I was unable tp hear due to unfriendly's ?? So, I came back home and listening to EC tearing up the blues. Man, hard to find a flaw. Only flaw I can maybe think of is a bit to reveling, and is that a flaw? Guess I'm gonna have to order me a Singer to see. ? I tell you what, the Solo kicks frickin azzzzzz on analog recordings, holy sheep shit.

I tell you what, the Solo kicks frickin azzzzzz on analog recordings, holy sheep shit. Holy sheep shit indeed! You gotta remember Graham is a vinyl junkie so, of course, the Solo will kick sheeps "ass" when fed with an analogue source..... Graham tunes by ear and has been known to dance about his workshop on occasions, some say he even moonwalks, Made in Yorkshire tuned by ear.... good stuff indeed

OK guys..... let the games commence! I have just finished packing the Mr. D and will shove her on my "green" electric bike tomorrow morning and transport her to the post office.... she should be with you in Liverpool (home of the Beatles) on Saturday Nigel..... FAB! Take your time with her, there is no rush to "pass it on".... just use her and abuse her, that's what she's there for. Pass her on to Leo when you're ready. All the best. Pinkie. (you were only supposed to blow the fekkin doors off!)

Cheers Mike, I'm working tomorrow but will leave instruction for the wife to give the postman a warm welcome. The postman always rings twice. She went today mate, £9 via first class recorded delivery so should either be with you tomorrow morning or first thing Monday. Post is superb up here so every likelihood it will be with you tomorrow. Give her an hour or so to heat up before having a good old listen. Enjoy BTW: I'm missing it already with the K-701, have got the little HeadRoom amp hooked up tonight and it's nowhere near as good with the K-701.

The Heed was superb w/ the K701. I wish you still had it to do a side by side. Yes, I regret letting her go, she was a most accomplished amp with certain headphones. I deffo want to buy a Doudou though, that session last night with the Headroom Little was just dire and the K-701 are missing the DouDou already. Nigel, I'll be happy to send the K-701 over to Liverpool if you'd like to give them a shot? I think you have to experience the Doudou / K-701 combo, it really is quite special!
