Obama and his minions are lying their asses off about "We respect the people's wishes". He doesn't respect anyone - he's lining up to get whatever he can from the deal.

Dale You aren't a card carrying member of the Tea Party by any chance ? No bloody wonder the U.S. is in such a mess. Both sides of your politics hate each others guts, as do their supporters. At least both our sides of politics come together in the national interest in times like the present ISIS threat to the whole world. I don't much like our "budgie smuggler" PM , but I have to agree with what he is doing in this crisis. Alex

You mean, I should support this murderous, torture-OK, CIA-torture-defending thug just on the basis of being "fair and unbiased"? Umm, no. My people do not support that. We are America-firsters here, and we don't appreciate presidents who sell our industry to Communists (Reagan), nor do we appreciate presidents who invade countries that haven't attacked the U.S. (Iraq) and kidnap their president and lynch him Texas-style. We believe in working for what we have, and not having it stolen from us. You can sit back and enjoy your independence while it lasts, but someday the thieves will notice that you have something they want and they will take it from you at gunpoint (and "legally").

The results will be in tomorrow morning Alex and I pray the "YES" crowd don't get in..... I hope I wake up in the UK and not in an independent Scotland. The YES side are a crowd who spout a load of shite and are so anti English it makes me ashamed to be a Scot.... voting for their "promises" and "visions" is a total crapshoot and I, for one, am not voting to leave the UK on the promises of that bunch of nationalistic bigots. They are liars who are force feeding the poor and vulnerable with the idea that Scotland would be a richer place if it were independent and that really annoys me. Whatever happens tomorrow, the poor people will never see these liars on their doorsteps ever again.... all they want are more powers for "themselves" and certainly not for the people of Scotland. They are like a pack of wolves ganging up on easy prey filling people's heads with utter nonsense and false promises. They have caused a great division in Scotland and their ultimate goal is to divide / separate the United Kingdom and shift the "power" into their own corrupt back pockets. If there is a NO result tomorrow I forecast an extreme backlash from the YES supporters and this will go on for years. This referendum (or Neverendum as I call it) has totally split Scotland with the YES side pelting the NO side with eggs, calling them traitors, threatening to burn their homes down and all sorts of other bully boy tactics. I certainly don't want to be living in a country that is run by that type of mentality, they are separatists who blame "Westminster" for everything and they are fools if they (honestly) believe that Scotland can go it alone without the support we receive from the rest of the United Kingdom. The Royal bank of Scotland was bailed out by the UK taxpayers, that wouldn't be possible in an independent Scotland..... it would be chaos, in a Greek style, if the same thing was to happen again in an independent Scotland. All this talk of oil is bullshit, it will run out in 30 years time.... what then? An economy based on sheep, whisky and tartan? Yeh, that's going to be a real global player. Quite a few Scots absolutely HATE the English (with a passion) and they even manage to hate the residents of the town 10 miles away from theirs..... quite a few are bigots, who have never been out of Scotland, and think that Scotland was the inventor of the World. These people (I hope not enough to tip the balance to YES tomorrow) are a bunch of jealous / envious / bigoted dickheads with a VERY large chip on their shoulders and it should be mandatory for these cretins to spend a year of their life living outside Scotland to show them that the rest of the world is not as bad as they think and, in most cases, is far more accepting of foreign cultures than Scotland is. I hope the majority of people in Scotland are not fooled by these crooked fools trying to wreck our wonderful country, in an attempt for them to take "power" into their back pockets, and trust that the majority of Scots are well travelled and realise that unity is better than division. Andy Murray? Who gives a toss about him..... the UK? Important to me.

I thought the whole world was watching this boring debate with baited breath I'll let you know as soon as common sense has prevailed, or not Hi Mike The previous item was from my Optus homepage where I get to see much of the latest worldwide news. I would love to see Scotland independent again due to my Scottish ancestry, but realise that it doesn't make sense in today's world. Hell, I apparently even had a broad Scottish accent when I was quite young, so I have been told. All of my father's family migrated here. Kind Regards Alex

The live news feed shows the vote tally (still zero) for 32 different 'councils'. Many familiar and historic names there. This is hugely important, since (I think) it's possibly the first breakup of a major Western entity since Ireland over 100 years ago. Apparently the paperwork would be enormous, since in just one item (int'l treaties) Scotland is now subject to some 14 thousand of those treaties as part of Britain. It gets more complicated, as Scotland hosts a nuclear sub base for one example, and all of those things have to be worked out.

Scotland has voted against becoming an independent country by 55% to 45%. Hi Nigel It seemed to be a foregone conclusion to me once I found out that 30% of Scotland's GDP came from Whisky, and the majority of the distillers felt that they would lose money, and also with possible distillery closures if the ties were severed. There was no guarantee that Scotland would be admitted to the E.U. which could see the price of Scotch Whisky dropping and distilleries going out of business due to needing to remain competitive with the added tax burden in Europe.

That result is the best for Scotland IMHO although I agree it'll raise its head again soon enough. Greedy politicians using historical oppression, ignorance and misinformation to their own ends, business as usual at that level! As for the weegies, maybe no one could understand a flipping word they said so didn't care about their votes

There were quite a few grim faces in Thurso today, half the place wanted independence from the "Westminster" monster. It would have been the biggest party in Scottish history if they had become independent but, alas, it didn't come to pass. All of the YES supporters I know (quite a few of them) blamed "project fear" and "Westminster" for the overwhelming NO vote..... it was nothing to do with the fact that the SNP's policies were shite and their leader was as convincing as a conman trying to fleece you out of everything you own. Alex Salmond was correct on one thing though........ Scotland WILL keep the pound! Oh, by the way, Alex Salmond resigned as leader of the SNP this afternoon. One good thing he did do was to re-activate politics and the turnout was unprecedented, he has to be respected for that. It's got the entire UK (even England) talking about devolution now and that has to be a good thing.... local spending will be far better than the current system and I am all for devolution of power. Independence, separatism, division and hatred of anything south of the border is not good for any country and I feel we must stand united in these worrying times with "extremist" Muslim savages chopping heads off with kitchen knives etc........ Not a good idea to buy into the uncertainty of independence and potentially put your country at risk. This is actually what these terrorists want to do, they want to divide opinion, they want to cause division and fear all in the name of their cause. The SNP, these past couple of years, have done their best to divide a nation (Scotland) and to portray the impression that anything south of the border is bad. I voted NO because I could see right through the SNP's lies and constant blame on "Westminster" for everything. They patted themselves on the back for everything that went well but everything that hadn't gone well they blamed on the demonic "Westminster". A totally see through bunch of very moderate terrorists yet a bunch who got 1.6 million votes. This is what concerns me, just how can 1.6 million people be so bloody gullible and buy into the idea the SNP were selling? You'd expect lemmings to follow each other over a cliff edge but to follow such a campaign based on nothing other than wild promises and misinformation is just plain ignorance..... there are obviously 1.6 million ignorant people in Scotland who "almost" made us all fall of the cliff edge into the abyss but, fortunately, the other 2 million saw sense and I am proud to still be a part of the United Kingdom today. We need to stand together and actively rid our United Kingdom of the Islam "extremist" scourge that is growing like a cancer in our land. Our culture is being eroded at a fast rate of knots and, in 30 years time, we will possibly be the minority enslaved by these savages into a land of Sharia law and legal rape of underage white girls.... we should NOT be dividing our Great nation we should be uniting and fighting this demonic cancer that is spreading across our wonderful land. Forget Syria, forget Iraq, forget Afghanistan..... let's concentrate on repatriating these savages closer to their devil god. My idea of repatriation is to take them to the nearest harbour, kick their savage arses into the sea and let the bastards swim toward Mecca. The establishment is way too tolerant of these savages and EVERY person you speak to wants to see the back of them but dare mention it in public and you are accused of being a racist! NO! I am a realist and can see that these people are clearly not happy living as part of the British culture so my solution is to kick every last one of them into the sea. If we don't act soon it will be too late and our culture will be totally destroyed.... sod the pound, sod the health service and sod the schools..... they are no use to any of us if we have to live in a country with savages calling the shots. I would rather our "government" grew a pair of balls and weeded these savages out of our society than go overseas dropping bombs on non British savages. Let them do what they have to, is it really our place to get involved in sorting continental savages out? Would these white child raping satanists come to our aid with rice drops and medical assistance (if we ever needed it) ? Would they hell!!! Leave the ROW savages alone, let's concentrate on removing the in-house savages and then we can get on with putting the "Great" back into Britain! (with the help of our "non Muslim extremist" colonial cousins who manage to integrate into our society rather than chopping our heads off and raping our young children) Just my tuppence happeny worth

Actually, Scotland is in a great position now. Perhaps better than if the secessionists had won! Stuart for queen! I think so too Robin. There WILL be concessions to calm things down again. Part of their agenda was almost certainly to throw around a bot of muscle to show they weren't happy and get a better deal for Scotland. Exorbitant fuel prices up north could be just one reason, and improved health facilities another ?
