We've discussed them already a few times. IIRC there have been some links in the corresponding threads to articles with feedback from people that have already used them. Please use the search function. I did mention them also at least once to you. Because you've complained many times about bad comfort with the stock pads. IIRC try to avoid the black gel pads, use the clear gel pads. Someone has mentioned that the clear gel pads have a surface which is more comfortable. I'm sure all those gel pads are way better than your homemade pads. ;D ;D ;D

The gel pads are very good (except for the sweat factor) for dt770's, mmx300's ... bad for dt880 and dt990. I still have the clear gel pads even though I sold the headphones, you never know when I'm going to use them, they work on Ultrasones and some other headphones too.

Also, the search won't work because it wont include the word "gel". Apparently the most important word in the search is too short to be of worth to the almighty search engine.

They are made specifically for Beyer 'phones of the DT 770/880/990 series. Not all will sound good though. Probably the DT 770's are the only 'phones that got good reviews with the gel pads. I don't know for which 'phones Beyer is selling the gel pads. Mechanically, all rather new types of DT 770/880/990's should work. Superlux HD-330's and HD-660's will work also because they have a cloned Beyer design.
Regarding other non-Beyer 'phones: It's pure luck if they will fit mechanically and a lot more luck to find a combo that sound also good. You will have to try that.
You could also use some of the various pleather pads which Beyer is selling. IMO they have made the best pleather pads which I have seen so far, it's quite a good quality. Comfort and sound is something you will have to try. I use the Beyer pleather pads only with my HD-660's.

Wouldn't the gel be softer and more evenly distribute pressure?

You'll find the gel pads on the Beyer website and some dealers can order them. But no luck with Thomann. Beyer sells also directly to customers, but only in a couple of countries (Germany for example). In Switzerland, I'd have to order them from a dealer.
IIRC, they're roughly double the price of normal Beyer pads.

Funny. Not available on European market.
From what I've read, they isolate more and some think they sound better. Some think they're 'ugly as sin' and too expensive. Also difficult to get on to the headphone.
I woulodn't mind trying them but can't get hold of them unless I buy them from USA so postage is going to be daft.

I can try to get a quote from preferred audio dealer in Switzerland. Shipping would be probably less than from USA, but even if I can get them, it will probably take a while to receive them. Time is my main problem at the moment, but I can get the price quote by mail or telephone.

I think they come in black or see through gels. I'm also interested in what they could do for the DT990. Less sound absorbed by them I would imagine. The reports I've read in USA say that they though that the sound was improved (maybe because they are probably quite 'inert') and they isolated better on the DT770. However, many felt that they were very ugly to look at - but hey - if it improves the sound, who's looking? Funny that they don't seem to be widely available in Europe and they're a German headphone!!

The bass and comfort are definitely best with these gel pads, but they do make some songs sound less airy and spacious. Although I am getting low base lines that I wasn't before.

are the edges of the gel rings in any of your pads (the rings of gel that sit on top of the foam) a little imperfect? Mine have some indentions.

Do we see pics of your new pads? I'm sure the new pads look much better than your old homemade pads.

You can't get them in Europe. I've been looking all over the place. There's another picture I can't take.

Colt, I would rather not bother posting at all than post these inane "one liners", can't you come up with more than one sentence these days?
