I have a heavily modded QED headphone amp up for sale. I bought this off a fellow enthusiast on hifi wigwam as a cheap way to try headphone amplification (I am new on here but have the same username on the wigwam). It was a relatively cheap amp originally but was upgraded as per the link below to very good effect (this amp has had the same mods as the one in the 3rd set of pictures as you scroll down - in fact it might be the same amp) : rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=b&action=print&thread=1031I have just bought a gilmore lite so this has to go. However there is less between these two than you might think (especially when the gilmore sold at $499 before they discontinued this recently). It has the power to drive almost anything (2w output) and have been using it with my senn hd580's to good effect. It is very detailed with good dynamics and slam and is a total no brainer for the price imo!! Would like what I paid for it, £65 plus postage in the UK.

Since there has been a lot of debate about output power a small 'correction'.
The used IC can deliver 2W into 8Ohm when used as intended. In this amplifier it can produce:
375 mW into 8 Ohm 270 mW into 32 Ohm 50 mW into 300 Ohm.
It has an output resistance of 10 Ohm and is intended for driving low Ohmic headphones as it is a low output voltage amplifier.

Thanks for that. It is more powerful than my headamp anyway and drove the senn's with ease.

i can confirm this was the one you did for me mike, I've upgraded recently. i can confirm that dave is a genuine guy and if anyone wants to try this he is a good person to deal with.
add one of Mike's little pinky power supplies and treat yourself, it performs much better than its price tag I can assure you!

it definitely is, you did that for me and I sent you some Grado 80s for you to play with (in fact I think you have just put them on here for sale haven't you?)
This was part of a deal that Ian set up which also gained me some Beyerdynamic 770 pros from him.
Why would I make it up?

that's the one Ian. although I have to say the QED didn't like your Beyers much, it did like my AKG's though. I now have a Neco MOSFET v2.1 which definitely likes the Beyers, sounds bloody lovely actually. This was obviously the start of a new line of upgrading for me (worse luck! )

You probably didn't send the power supply?
I'm finding more and more that the combo of amp and headphone is more critical than anything.
I now use certain amps with headphones.
Funnily enough the Panda also works well with the DT770. Massive bass though, so I'm careful what I'm listening to with them.
